Saturday March 04, 2017 – Explore rose cultivation in the Pacific NW
Rose Lee, owner of Rosebriar Gardens & Design, will be presenting a program focused on the selection and care of roses on Saturday, March 4th starting at 10:30am in Lake Wilderness Arboretum’s Nursery. The program, part of the Arboretum’s EXPLORE educational outreach series, will focus on choosing roses that do well in our area as well how to plant and care for roses using methods that promote environmentally sound methods. Rose Lee plans to do a hands-on pruning demo on one or two roses in the Arboretum’s gardens after her 45-minute presentation in the arboretum’s covered Nursery meeting area.
Ms. Lee is a member of numerous organizations that focus on plants and landscaping, especially roses: the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Professional Association, Heritage Roses NW, Seattle Rose Society, and the Royal Horticultural Society. Rose has researched over 2,000 roses to find varieties that thrive in the NW without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers and has donated some of her favorite roses to Lake Wilderness Arboretum for display in its gardens.
